GDNote is a notebook application built on top of Google Docs and using a structure and UI similar to OneNote. It runs in the browser (tested with Firefox, Safari and IE) and uses Google Gears for offline access.

We just passed a fairly important milestone - successfully importing 680 pages of my notes from OneNote. I’m now using it as my main notetaking app, and we’re pretty close to opening it up to users.

Developing GDNote has been an interesting experience. The first working proof of concept took me just a couple of days last month when I basically didn’t stop coding except to sleep for a few hours. Actually turning that into a complete product has involved several developers, a designer and a couple of months.
